The Lawsuit for Survival
Global Action on Gun Violence (GAGV) filed the “Lawsuit for Survival,” on behalf of Manuel and Patricia Oliver, who lost their son, Joaquin, to a mass shooting in Parkland, Florida, in 2018. The Olivers reframed gun violence as a human rights issue and hoped to give others a privilege their son didn’t have–the right to not be shot.
